Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What size air compressor do I need?
A: Size your compressor based on the CFM (cubic feet per minute) demand of the tools you'll run simultaneously. Add up the CFM requirements of all tools that may run at once and choose a compressor that exceeds that total. For a typical auto shop, a 5-10 HP two-stage compressor is usually sufficient.

Q: What's the difference between single-stage and two-stage compressors?
A: Single-stage compressors max out around 125 PSI. Two-stage compressors use two cylinders to achieve higher pressures (up to 175 PSI) more efficiently. Two-stage is the standard for commercial and industrial applications.

Q: Do you carry compressor replacement parts?
A: Yes — we carry a full range of Saylor-Beall replacement parts including overhaul kits, valves, pistons, crankshafts, bearings, belts, filters, gaskets, and more.

Q: What is a duplex compressor?
A: A duplex compressor has two independent pump units sharing a common tank and control system. If one unit fails, the other continues operating. Duplex compressors are used in applications where continuous air supply is critical.
